Description
2019 was a Chamber of Commerce weekend with highs in the low 80's and sunny skies. A great improvement on the two previous years.
Our 2020 honoree, Roger Penske, has a motto, "Efforts=Results" and our staff works tirelessly year round to present the best show of its kind in the world. I use the term "show" as even though we refer to ourselves as a "concours d'elegance", we are more than that. The Secret to our success is the people who attend, i.e entrants, racers, engineers, and designers. For many, it has become a yearly reunion of friendships that go back decades.
We pride ourselves on our seminars, and Ray Evernhams " Racing Around the Rules" was an absolute hit. Hidden nitrous, a variety of tape measures, hidden fuel bladders, aluminum bumpers....all the secret go faster, go farther secret stuff. Ray tells me, he received enough comments and inside stories to do two more programs. GOOD IDEA!!!
The seminar on the Porsche 962 drivers played to a standing room only audience of nearly 1,000. Tim Pendergast put together a display of winning 962's which will be difficult to duplicate anywhere.
Our Cars & Coffee at the Concours on Saturday morning has become a staple for us and last year boasted over 400 cars from local clubs and enthusiasts with a full field of spectators.
RM/Sotheby's, our auction partner had a great two day auction topping $38.1M for their sale of 140 rare and collectible cars.
